Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Johanna Wolfe is a photographer who makes analog c-prints. Her awareness of forensic and scientific investigation was encouraged at a young age by parents working in medicine and criminal law enforcement. During her time as an undergraduate studying Art History at Columbia University, she traveled extensively through Europe and Asia, fortifying her interests in and passion for documentary photography. After graduating, she worked in various media-based fields, including publishing and film festivals. Later transitioning into television production, she produced observational documentary series for networks including TLC, Discovery Health and A&E.

She received an M.F.A. in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2010, and has exhibited her work throughout the United States. She is currently teaching undergraduate photography and building a cooperative darkroom space in New York.
